Early Years training

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA
for the Early Years Practitioner

This apprenticeship standard is completed whilst working in the nursery and takes 12-15 months.  

It will help you:

  • Build the knowledge and skills you will need in order to work under supervision with children from birth to 5 years.

  • Gain knowledge of children aged 5-7 years.

In addition to the EYP diploma you will complete: 

  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English, and Maths (unless you have already achieved GSCE grade  A-G/grade 1-9) or an equivalent in these subjects.

  • You will also be asked to sit the functional skills exams at level 2 (if you have not achieved grade A-C/ grade 4-9) however, you are not required to pass them at this stage.

  • An end point assessment that consists of a knowledge test and a professional discussion with an End Point Assessment Organisation. At the end of the EPA process, you will be awarded your overall apprenticeship standard grade.

 

Suitable candidates will have the opportunity to continue training with Seesaws for the EYE Level 3.​

Diverse Kindergarten

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA
for the Early Years Practitioner

This apprenticeship standard prepares you to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

 

It is the qualification you need to work in Early Years Education and Care.

 You will complete this qualification whilst working in the nursery and it will take 18 months to complete. 

 

In addition to the EYE:

  • Apprentices without Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment, unless you have already achieved GSCE grade A-C/grade 4-9 or an equivalent in these subjects. 

  • You will complete A Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) to meet the EYFS requirements.

  • You will experience an End Point Assessment that consists of an observation with questioning and a professional discussion with an End Point Assessment Organisation. At the end of the EPA process, you will be awarded your overall apprenticeship standard grade.

You must be at least 16 years old.

Level 3

UPON COMPLETION

Once individuals have achieved their Level 2 and 3, they will gain their licence to practise and will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.

 

These individuals can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary, or private sectors such as:

• Assistant in Children's Centres
• Practitioner in nursery schools
• Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
• Pre-school worker

Individuals can also progress to the Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner or other higher-level early years qualifications.

Alternatively, Seesaws has many opportunities for you to work across the company in any of our 5 nurseries or holiday clubs.  

 

Many of our past successful trainees are now in management positions.​
