3-5 year olds

Every day is an adventure of learning and fun for children at Seesaws.

We have a qualified teacher to lead nursery staff in the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which focuses on the following areas:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal,social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Qualified and Experienced staff

With one qualified and experienced practitioner looking after just eight youngsters in the pre-school area, you can be assured that your child will benefit from close care and attention throughout the day.

We offer individual support for every child and have facilities in place for those with special needs who require additional help. The groups enjoy a mixture of structured and child-led activities every day and benefit from a curriculum that covers communication skills, reading, numeracy, exploration and science, as well as French, music, drama and IT. We have visiting specialists in music and drama for the children to enjoy each week.

Children learn through play and our outdoor living classrooms, combined with visits to places of interest, give them ample opportunity to develop their skills and awareness of the outside world.

They are also taught the value of friendship, honesty, fairness and respect for others, including other cultures.

Working with Parents

We work closely with parents to involve the children in activities, as parents are encouraged to share a weekend diary, which serves to forge the link between nursery and home.

Staff monitor the development of your child and complete weekly assessments, which are used to plan specific activities that develop your child’s individual skills. We also keep an individual development folder, which contains a selection of your child’s work. You can ask to see this at any time.

Activities and experiences at this age are planned to help make the transition to school an easier one for children.

We operate an open door policy, so if you have any issues you wish to discuss in confidence you can speak to staff at any time. There are also parent’s evenings twice a year at which you can review your child’s development in more detail.
