Healthy Eating

Every day, our qualified cooks at each of the Seesaws premises provide a range of nutritious, home-cooked meals and snacks that help to keep babies and youngsters fit and healthy.. Those attending the nursery for a full day are offered three high quality meals: breakfast, lunch and tea. They also have healthy snacks and drinks regularly during the day.

For your peace of mind:
  • All staff who handle food are required to have up to date food hygiene certificates and everyone is carefully instructed in strict cleansing and hygiene rules
  • All the nurseries in the Seesaws family are registered as food handling departments, which means they are subject under law to regular inspections
  • All bottles are clearly labelled for each child and equipment is thoroughly washed and sterilised between feeds.

Babies up to 12 months

We provide all food, including different types of formula milk, weaning foods and finger foods.

We cater for special dietary needs, including vegetarian, diabetes, coeliac, gluten free, or other allergies, and can take into consideration religious and cultural preferences.

Procedures are in place to ensure that individual diets are followed exactly, including the use of colour-coded feeding equipment for children with allergies or intolerances.

Parents can provide their own weaning meals, if they prefer.

Breastfeeding mothers are encouraged to come in and feed their babies if they wish, or they can supply expressed breast milk in named bottles.

Pasteurised milk is offered to children who no longer need formula milk, as well as fresh juice and boiled, cool water.

Toddlers and Pre School Children

All children are offered healthy, nutritionally-balanced meals that provide the right amount of protein, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats and fibre for their age group. We encourage independent eating and when children are ready we provide suitable equipment and utensils that support this stage of development. We also promote good table manners, so that children can develop their social skills and independence.
